Business Address: 630 15th Avenue NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 1H8 Work Location: Various locations across the Calgary Region, Alberta Type of Employment: Full time – Seasonal / 9-months contract Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible Job Duties: -Install or replace asphalt shingles, wood shingles and shakes and masonry or baked clay roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings. - Apply waterproof coatings to concrete or other masonry surfaces below or above ground level - Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools - Install, repair, or replace shingles, shakes and other roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings - Install, repair, or replace single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions - Install sheet metal flashings - Estimate costs and materials - Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications - Erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms - Instruct apprentices - Set up scaffolding to provide safe access to roofs Requirements Education: Some secondary school is required Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in the field are required. Work conditions and Physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Repetitive Tasks, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Work under pressure, At heights, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Bending, crouching, kneeling. Salary: $27.00 to $29.00 hourly, 30 - 50 hours per week Benefits: Accommodation available at a cost. Transportation among work locations is provided. Transportation costs covered if workers need to relocate. Uniforms and PPE provided. Important Information: Work schedule is 5 days a week, on a rotational basis. Workers must work 9 – 10 hours shifts, set between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm. However, flexibility on schedule is required as some days will start earlier and others finish later depending on the business needs. Work on weekends and holidays may be required.
