Roofer Job in Guelph, Ontario

Purpose: The Installer will successfully work within a highly efficient and organized team to safely prepare and install high quality steel roofing systems for our clients. Key Position Responsibilities and Duties: General Labourer • Assists team members with the preparation of the roofing surface. • Assist in the material handling to ensure efficiency of installation. • Transport material to the roof surface for installation. • Understand the process and all required materials for each roof installation. • Ensure a safe and clean work environment at all times. • Provide assistance to other team members as required. Strapping System Installer • Install the lumber for the grid prior to steel roof installation. • Perform levelling throughout the installation of the grid to ensure accuracy and quality. • Identify and understand the requirements for different roof styles. Shaker • Install field shakes. • Cut gutter shakes within required tolerances. • Understand how to shake around objects such as plumbing vents and electrical stacks and be able to do so accurately and efficiently. Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Superior organizational skills. • High level of attention to detail. • Comfortable working from heights. • Effective written and oral communication skills. • Demonstrates a high level of initiative. • Mechanical aptitude preferred. • Punctual and alert on the job site at all times. • Safety conscious and knowledgeable of Occupation Health and Safety regulations. • Ability to work effectively unsupervised as well as collaborates within an active team. • Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s Licence and clean driver’s abstract. Experience: No previous experience necessary. Experience in a trade or related industry an asset. Working Conditions: • Physically demanding work performed outdoors. • Must be able to consistently lift 40-50lbs regularly during each shift. • Must be comfortable lifting and carrying weight while ascending 12 foot ladder. • Must be able to stand, walk and bend frequently during each shift. • Must be comfortable working at heights. • Must be able to work safely in hot and cold temperatures. • Usually works a standardforty-four hour work week. • Will be required to work flexible hours to complete large projects. • Local travel in company vehicle required.
